First, you need to set up a blog account if you don't already have one. You may use any blogging website that you prefer. The only stipulation is that you may NOT use Facebook or MySpace as your means of blogging. I recommend blogspot or wordpress. Both of these site are free and are remarkably easy to use.
Next, you will need to customize your page. Most of you are computer savvy enough to do this with little trouble. If you do have trouble, you may see me after class or e-mail me at the address on your syllabus to get direction.
The journal assignment is worth 100 points or 10% of your total grade. This may seem trivial to some of you, but it is actually the difference between an A or a B. Please take this assignment seriously.
Every week, you will need to post at least 2 blogs. A week will run from Sunday to Saturday. These blogs need to be at least 100 words each. You may incorporate pictures and/or links to webpages in these posts. All blogs need to be written in complete sentences and with correct grammar. Resist the temptation to use "texting grammar" on your blog.
Please remember that each post is time-stamped and dated; therefore, I will be able to see when you posted.
You will want to bookmark this blog because each week I will post a link to a student's blog. It's kind of like an employee of the week incentive. Keep checking to see if your blog is recognized as exceptional.

Welcome
Welcome to English 1310.
It is my hope that you will find your time in this class to be exciting and informative. One of the key assignments is to keep a journal. I've posted the specifics of that assignment in the following post.
Please know that I will be checking your blogs on a regular basis, so be diligent.
